Waterville, Maine, September 2026 – Thomas College is beginning the new academic year with seven new faculty members, expanded academic offerings, and continued national recognition for its commitment to student success.
U.S. News & World Report has again named Thomas College a Top Performer on Social Mobility, ranking the College second in Maine within its region. Thomas College has earned recognition in the Social Mobility category since 2019. The ranking recognizes colleges and universities for their success in enrolling and graduating students who receive federal Pell Grants.
The College also welcomes seven new faculty members across disciplines including computer science and cybersecurity, accounting, business, psychology, and clinical mental health counseling. Their arrival adds to the growth and momentum of Thomas College’s academic programs and reflects an ongoing commitment to preparing graduates for meaningful, in-demand careers in Maine and beyond.
New faculty members include:
- Rajin Koonjbearry, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Computer Science and Cybersecurity
- Michael Lacombe, CPA, EA, CFP, ChFC, SPHR, Instructor of Accounting
- Nicole J. Record, Esq., MPPM, MBA, Assistant Professor of Business Administration
- Melissa St. Pierre, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Psychology
- Amanda Sexton, M.S., Assistant Professor of Clinical Mental Health Counseling
- Patricia J. Hubel, Ph.D., Ed.D., ATC, CSCS, Assistant Professor of Sport Management
- Kyle Soldano, Ed.D., Associate Professor of Business
Thomas College is also expanding its academic offerings this fall, welcoming the first cohorts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Teaching Residency, and Athletic Coaching, along with the launch of a new Canine Studies minor.

That focus on career preparation translates into results: 99 percent of Thomas graduates are employed or continuing their education within six months of graduation.
