WATERVILLE, MAINE, February 2022 — This year the Thomas Cup, which is a competition held annually that engages Maine high school students in various technology and innovation challenges, will be held in person after being held virtually last year.

The Thomas Cup will be held on Friday, March 18 overnight into Saturday, March 19 on Thomas College’s campus in Waterville.

Registration is now open at thomas.edu/thomas-cup. Participation is free thanks to event sponsors Central Maine Power, Unum, WEX, Project Login, and AT&T.

Teams of five high school students will compete in science, technology, engineering, and innovation competitions for the chance to win their names on the Thomas Cup and receive scholarships worth up to $10,000 over four years. Competition areas include cyber defense, esports, computer science, and crime scene analysis.

All Maine high school students are welcome to participate, no matter your experience or skillsets. Thomas College professors, staff, and current students will help students succeed, learn, and have fun.

“We are incredibly excited to bring high school students from across Maine to our campus for this exciting event,” said Thomas College VP of Innovative Partnerships Ed Cervone. “And we couldn’t do this without our incredible sponsors who truly believe in providing opportunities for high school students to engage and learn in the technology and innovation space.”
